glucose

Not a vampire, a friend

Sometimes simpler is better. A relative with diabetes commissioned us to develop a straightforward app for tracking blood sugar glucose and related health data. Growly Glucose can't connect to your meter. It doesn't track nutrition. It doesn't store your data in the cloud.

What it does very well is keep track of your meter readings (three per day), actual A1C results, estimated A1C, and related health data. That includes blood pressure, weight, pulse, blood oxygenation, amount of sleep and exercise, and stress level. These figures can help you discern patterns and alert you to potential problems before they occur.

Every day is one line of the list. Entering data is simple and clear. You've got enough problems in your life; keeping track of your sugar levels shouldn't be more complex than it has to be.

You can import your existing data directly from Excel (XLS) or any other spreadsheet through three common data formats (CSV, DIF, text). Export data back to those same three interchange formats if you need to.

Almost a smart spreadsheet

Two features of Growly Glucose make it easier to spot trends and problems.

When you select more than one record, a chart automatically graphs the blood sugar readings for those days and gives you an average value and an estimated A1C. This makes it easy to see if there's an emerging problem, or more hopefully if you're improving your control of your blood sugar. If you hate charts, you can hide it. But, as you can see above, the chart is not only useful but pretty.

A very simple mechanism allows you to assign colors to reading levels in ranges that you specify, so blood sugar levels that are higher than you'd like them to be are instantly identifiable. In the illustration above you can see the colored cells in the last two, unselected lines. You can change the values of the ranges to match what your doctor recommends for your specific case. You have complete control of the colors to use. And again, if you don't want to use this feature, you can turn it off.
